Curator Statement from Jenny Reilly and Alan Sparrow

We really enjoyed working our way through all the entries and we have been inspired by the range of ideas used to portray a subject that touches all of us, Food Waste.

We have endeavoured to select photography that has a strong food waste message or story to tell, whether it be at home, here in the UK, or a global issue.

Photographs like the piles of vegetables that don't even make it to our supermarket shelves to those of the various charity projects that are offering up worthwhile solutions, get an important message across.

Judging the entrants has been a very rewarding process and we hope to see more work from all these talented photographers in the future.

'1000 Photos of Food' Exhibition Private View will be held at 'Borough Market' London on 27th June 2015 from 6PM until 8PM. and it will be open for public from 29th June until 15th July 2015.

Below 24 entries selected by curators will be framed and exhibited at prestigious Borough Market, London.

Also they will be part of exclusive 2016 calendar which will be sold at Borough Market and money raised will be donated to Plan Zheroes charity.

I was delighted to have two photos selected for this exhibition. I support this important cause and am glad to have contributed to bringing it to more people's attention in a small way, at least.

Well done everyone, I am really chuffed to have been awarded 2nd place in the competition especially as the standard is so high.

Well done, Terry!! Like especially your ‘ daily diet for some ’ image. Unable to get to the PV tomorrow – regret that i can’t meet t’other photographers and associated people; hope you’all have a most rewarding evening. There are some creative & thought-provoking photographs here.

Wow! I'm amazed, excited, chuffed - how many other ways can I put it at gaining not one but THREE places in the competition!

Can you tell how happy I am to be associated with such an excellent cause and competition?

Pass on the word and stop the waste people! Little by little we can do it.
